South Elgin Parks & Recreation sets Idol singing competiton

The Fundation and South Elgin Parks & Recreation will conduct its fourth annual Village Idol Singing Competition during Riverfest at Panton Mill Park on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17. Join the fun with your family and root on your favorite Village Idol contestant.

Contestants of all ages from the local area will compete to win the title of South Elgin's Village Idol. Age categories are 0-11, 12-17, and 18-and-over.

All contestants will perform from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 16 and the top two contestants from each category will perform from 1 to 2 p.m. on Aug. 17.

It's a safe bet this year's competition will bring on the talent. Each contestant will perform for the judges who will ultimately pick the South Elgin Village Idol winner.

The competition will be extensive as the best of the best will be performing. The Village Idol grand prize winner will receive $200 cash and will be the ultimate South Elgin Village Idol.

Each of the winners from the three age group categories will receive a $100 gift card. All winners will be announced in a number of different publications, local newspapers, the village of South Elgin and Fundation Web sites.
