Elgin Public Museum notes
Sign up now to see the Elgin Public Museum's John Muir presentation. The limited seating is rapidly filling up. The free program will be held Friday, at 7 p.m. July 11 at the museum in Lords Park.
John Wallace will make John Muir come alive. Imagine you are sitting around a campfire in the California redwood forest or somewhere in the Sierra Nevada, when on old, bearded gentlemen walks in and begins to tell you stories of his adventures. Wallace makes 100 years ago become today as he tells about the marvelous and humour experiences of John Muir, often called the Father of our National Parks, the Wilderness Prophet and Citizen of the Universe. Muir was also the founder of the Sierra Club and an environmentalist long before the country recognized living "green."
This program is free of charge, made possible by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council Roads Scholar program. Seating is limited; reservations are required and are now being taken. To register please call the museum at (847) 741-6655.
The Elgin Public Museum is at 225 Grand Blvd., Lords Park, and is open noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
