Daley gun views play on emotion
In response to the recent Supreme Court decision that struck down the Washington, D.C. gun ban, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley said the decision raises a return to Old West shootouts.
On the border of Daley's Chicago is Indiana.
In it, all Hoosiers have the right to carry concealed weapons.
With twice the population of Chicago, Indiana has 25 percent fewer murders.
There are no bullet-ridden criminals lying on the streets of Kokomo. There are no Wild West shootouts on the streets of Muncie.
Daley panders to emotion over reason, but with indisputable facts just across an imaginary line, one has to wonder why the press does not challenge him on it.
