Helicopter crashes in river; no serious injuries

WEDRON -- Police in LaSalle County say a helicopter pilot and three passengers swam to shore, suffering no serious injuries after their aircraft crashed into the Fox River.

Corporal Kevin Swierkosz (SWAH'-ear-kahz) with the LaSalle County sheriff's office said only one female passenger was hurt in the Friday crash. He says she had a minor burn on her arm.

Swierkosz says the helicopter was giving a tour when it apparently flew too low along the river and hit power lines before crashing into the water. Authorities say workers were pulling the helicopter out of the river Friday night.
