Duhon going to the Knicks
Point guard Chris Duhon agreed to terms with the New York Knicks on Thursday. His departure from the Bulls after four seasons will become official when the NBA's free-agent negotiating period ends on July 9.
Duhon visited New York and Orlando this week. After taking a night to sleep on the decision, Duhon chose the Knicks and agreed to a two-year deal believed to be worth about $7 million.
"The opportunity to start and play in New York was too much to pass up," said Kevin Bradbury, Duhon's agent. "We worked out terms very quickly."
Though often criticized for his inconsistent shooting, Duhon started 141 games during the Bulls' three-year playoff run from 2004-07. The former second-round draft pick from Duke finished his Bulls' career averaging 6.9 points and 4.5 assists. He always ranked among the league leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio.
In New York, Duhon may be called upon to lead the fast-paced offense of new coach Mike D'Antoni. Despite having guards Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson under contract, the Knicks obviously felt they lacked a true point guard who could control the offense.
