Downstate man arrested for caging children
Police in suburban Chicago say a father has admitted locking his two young children in a cage in his pickup truck.
Ricardo Gonzalez of Midlothian was arrested after officials say a woman spotted him pushing a child's hands back into a cage at a gas station in Posen on Monday. Police officers say the woman also heard a child crying.
Police say Gonzalez admitted he locked his girls in a cage to control them.
The children are 3 and 6. Their 35-year-old father faces charges of misdemeanor child endangerment.
The girls were turned over to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and placed in foster care. Gonzalez is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.
