Shamrox pick up 2 in dispersal draft
The Chicago Shamrox today selected Scott Self and Brad MacDonald with their third and 16th overall selections in the 2008 Dispersal Draft on Monday.
Self, a 2008 All-Star for the Shamrox, collected 4 goals, 11 assists, and 100 loose balls during the 2008 season. MacDonald, who played in 12 games during the 2008 season, scored one goal and scooped up 17 loose balls. "Self is an all-star," said general manager and head coach Jamie Batley. "We are thrilled to get our defensive leader back. He has great knowledge of the game of lacrosse, which not only makes him a great defender, but also on the face-off as well in his transitional game." MacDonald, who was a member of the Portland LumberJax in 2007, has extensive experience in playoff games.
"MacDonald brings to the Shamrox four years of playing experience in the NLL," said Batley. "He has been able to make himself a good defender." The 2008 Dispersal Draft took place this year due to the Arizona Sting optioning not to play in the league. The league's newest franchise, the Boston Blazers, will join the league for the 2009 season, which brings the league's total teams to 13.
