Some new tastes at Taste of Lombard

The popular Taste of Lombard returns this week with one of the biggest carnivals, the widest variety of food offerings and entertainment that promises to keep everyone grooving. Daily Herald Staff Writer Kathryn Grondin asked festival organizer Mike Hughes what to expect at this year's festival.

Q. What's new this year?

A. More food vendors, healthier choice food vendors, fireworks music simulcast on WIND-AM 560, family-friendly eating area where there is no smoking or alcoholic beverages, recycling

Q. What are the guest favorites?

A. Arts-N-Crafts Tent, Lombard IDOL finals, Gator on a Stick

Q. Tell us what kind of food people will find at the taste.

A. There will be 30 restaurants of all different types of food, including Cajun, pizza, Chinese, Mexican, Americana, barbecue, Italian, corn on the cob, ice cream and other desserts, as well as plenty of cold drinks

Q. Tell us about the carnival.

A. There will be 25 rides, games and food booths

Q. Do you know what the ticket cost will be?

A. Tickets are $1 each and there will be "Pay One Price" unlimited ride wristband special every day. Wristbands are $20. Ride specials are from 5 p.m. to close on July 2 and July 3, noon to 5 p.m. on July 4 and July 5, and noon to 6 p.m. on July 6.

Q. Tell us about the parade.

A. It begins at 11:30 a.m. on July 4, starting at the Lombard Village Hall at 255 E. Wilson Ave. and ending at the Taste of Lombard on East Madison Street.
