Gary pounds Flyers 14-3
The Gary SouthShore RailCats pounded out 17 hits at Alexian Field and spoiled Schaumburg's 11-hit attack and handed the Flyers a 14-3 defeat.
It was the 14th meeting between the two clubs in June, with Gary dominating with 12 wins. Schaumburg (16-26) pulled out to an early lead in the first, but Gary (24-17) took the lead for good in the second and never looked back.
Bandits sweep Venezuela: Kristina Thorson pitched a no hitter until it was broken up in the seventh inning and the Chicago Bandits (9-7) defeated the Venzuelan National Team 9-0 Sunday in Elgin to complete a four game sweep.
Jamie Clark, Mindy Cowles, Aileen Morales and Laura Harms each recorded two RBI's to lead the Bandits, and Chicago scored three runs in the second, third and fourth innings.
Cougars fall to Peoria: The Kane County Cougars dropped a third straight one-run game and lost their fifth in a row overall on Sunday afternoon, falling 4-3 to the Peoria Chiefs at O'Brien Field. The Cougars, who stranded 11 runners, are now 1-6 on their current eight-game road trip.
