Data show gun bans don't work
Setting aside Mayor Daley's hysterical rant that the recent Supreme Court ruling upholding constitutionally granted gun owner rights will be disastrous in every respect, let's turn our attention to factual indisputable hard data.
In 1995, Texas passed a right to carry (gun) law.
In 1982, Chicago makes it illegal to posses or sell handguns.
Dallas murder rate in 2006 is 15 per 100,000.
Chicago murder rate is 16.4 per 100,000, or 9.3 percent higher than Dallas.
If anyone should be outraged, it should be the law abiding citizens of Chicago who were denied their right to self-protection by a clueless mayor.
