Burglars tried but failed to pry open the front driver's-side door on a 2005 Chevrolet van parked in a driveway at a home on the 27800 block of Riverside Drive. The attempted break-in occurred between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., June 20. Nothing appeared to be missing and a damage estimate was not available.
Grayslake
Michael W. Carpenter, 18, 6084 Indian Trail, Gurnee, was arrested June 17 at 45 S. Whitney St. and charged with possession of marijuana, police said. His Round Lake Beach court date is July 23.
Gurnee
A $3,000 laptop computer was stolen around 10:30 a.m. June 23 from Condell Medical Center, 6440 Route 132.
Vandals wrote graffiti June 22 on a traffic box and bus stop shelter at Washington and North Greenleaf streets. A damage estimate was not available.
Vandals punctured the front driver's-side tire on a 2005 Nissan Roadster and wrote graffiti on a white 2006 GMC Yukon overnight June 24-25. The vehicles were parked in the same driveway on the 17500 block of Katie Court. Damage was estimated at $250. During the same time, vandals punctured the front driver's-side tire on a 2008 Suzuki and wrote graffiti on its rear driver's-side quarter panel. The vehicle was parked at a home on the 34100 block of Horseshoe Lane. Damage was estimated at $100. Police said, the graffiti was the same on the Suzuki and GMC.
Vandals smashed a mailbox overnight June 22-23 at a home on the 35100 block of Oak Knoll Circle, police said. A damage estimate was not available. According to reports, this is the third time someone has vandalized the mailbox.

Teenage boys broke a pitchfork and removed bowling-ball-size landscape rocks on an unknown date, but reported June 23, at a home on the 26300 block of Sunnybrook Road, the Lake County sheriff's office said. According to reports, a neighbor saw the boys taking firewood from the property. Damage and value were estimated at $400.
Lake Villa
Thieves pried off a locked gas cap and siphoned gas out of a 1972 Pontiac station wagon parked in a driveway on the 25100 block of Wayside Place, between June 22 and 25, Lake County sheriff's office said. Value was estimated at $100. According to reports, thieves siphoned gas out of the same vehicle on May 10.
Lake Zurich
A vandal hurled a rock through the rear window on a vehicle parked on the 700 block of Harvest Drive, around 9 a.m. June 18, police said. Damage was estimated at $200.
Libertyville
Vandals smashed all the windows on a vehicle parked on the 500 block of Oakwood Road, around 1 a.m. June 20, police said. A damage estimate was not available.
Burglars stole the in-dash radio faceplate, between 1:30 and 10:30 a.m. June 22, out of an unlocked 1996 Ford sedan parked in a driveway on the 1400 block of Allyson Court, sheriff's office said. Value was estimated at $80.

Thieves stole a 12-foot yellow kayak on an unknown date, but reported June 23, at a home on the 21200 block of South Sylvan Drive, the Lake County sheriff's office said. Value was estimated at $800.
Round Lake
Ronald W. Calderon, 52, 885 Charlton Road, Lake Villa, was arrested around 6:20 p.m. June 14 and charged with public intoxication after an officer found him intoxicated and riding a bicycle on the 300 block of Forest Avenue, police said. His Round Lake Beach court date was set for July 15.

Russell J. Dagis, 44, 1525 N. Williams, Round Lake Beach, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. June 13 and charged with retail theft after a security agent for Super Kmart, 400 E. Rollins Road, saw him take merchandise and leave without paying, police said. He also was charged with disorderly conduct because he was intoxicated and caused a disturbance, reports added. A court date was not available.
Vernon Hills
Lisa M. Totten, 19, 392 Donin, Apt. 212, Antioch, was arrested June 19 and charged with theft after a security agent for Petsmart, 701 N. Milwaukee Ave., discovered that employee Totten had rung up items and immediately refunded them for cash, which she kept for herself, police said. Value was estimated at $295. Her Waukegan court date was set for July 21.
Wauconda
Burglars entered a vehicle around 4 p.m. June 16 on the 2100 block of Braeburn Drive, police said. A value estimate was not available.
