Sing and Dance with Me: It's a dance party. Have fun learning classic songs and dances with your child. Burn energy dancing to the Hokey Pokey, YMCA, the Chicken Dance and more. Sing along to "BINGO" and many other great songs. This class is for children ages 4 to 6 years of age and a participating parent and meets from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 10 at the Community Center. Registration is $10 for residents; $15 for nonresidents.

Art in the Afternoon: Paint, draw and glue your way to awesome art projects. Enjoy nature and let your creative juices flow. Use the sun to make prints, paint with ice and make a nature collage. This class is for children ages 4 and 5 years and meets from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 10-31 at the Jaycee Park Pavilion. Registration is $26 for residents and $39 for nonresidents.

Lifeguard Program: The Cary Park District is offering a lifeguard program that provides entry-level lifeguard candidates, age 15 years and older, with the skills and knowledge necessary to keep patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around water. Participants will learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies and to provide care of injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive. The program includes a lifeguard training course with aquatic-specific first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. Course July 11-20, 5 to 10 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Registration is $170.

Magic Waters Water Park Teen Trip: Spend a fun-filled day with friends as we road trip to Magic Waters in Rockford. From the water and tube slides to the lazy river and sand volleyball there is something for everyone. Fee includes transportation, leaving from and returning to the Community Center, admission to the park, discount on tube rental and chaperones. Bring extra money for snacks and tube rental. Trip is for teens in sixth through ninth grades will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 16. Registration deadline is July 2. Registration is $25 (n/r $38).

Freestyle Nature Art: Paint with flowers, grasses and twigs. Try your hand at shadow drawing and mixing pastels with watercolor. This program is for those young artists that like to explore and create "outside the box." This class is for children 6- to 8-years-old and meets from 10:15 to 11:15 qa.m. Wednesdays, July 9-30 at the Jaycee Park Pavilion. Registration is $26 (n/r $39).

Water Wonders: Splash into an afternoon of fun a we discover the many powers of water. Learn which items sink, float and dissolve in water. Plus, learn to paint with water. Dress appropriately for water play. Class is for children ages 2 to 4 and a participating parent and meets from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 1 at the Cary Park District Preschool in Lions Park. Younger siblings, under 2 years, are welcome in the classroom. Registration is $10 (n/r $15).

Best Defense Safety & Self Defense for Kids: Stranger-danger, bullies, the Internet and other real world hazards - help your child recognize, avoid, and escape dangerous people and situations.

Taught in a fun, nonthreatening way, this program combines discussions and self-defense movements. All participants will receive a home learning guide, certificate, and safety care card. Parents are welcome to observe the program for free. This program is for children ages 6 and older and meets from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays, July 9-23 at the Community Center. Registration is $57 for residents and $86 for nonresidents.

Scrapbooking: Does your children have a lot of great summer pictures that they want to preserve and show off in a creative way? This program will get him or her started on two pages in a scrapbook. Bring several favorite pictures and all other supplies will be included. This class is for children ages 7 to 10 and meets from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Center. Registration is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents.

For adults

Improve Your Energy Level: We all have the same energy level, but spend it differently. Learn what affects your energy level and what you can do to improve it. Take home information you can begin using right away. This program is for adults and meets from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 at the Community Center. Registration is $5 for residents and $8 for nonresidents.

Adult Watercolor: Release stress and explore your creative side by working with watercolor. Create beautiful paintings as you work at your own pace. Beginners through more experienced artists are welcome. A supply list will be provided before the first meeting or you may purchase supplies from the instructor. This class meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, July 16-Aug. 6 at the Community Center. Registration is $48 for residents and $72 for nonresidents.

US Mailboat Tour/Lake Geneva: The Mailboat carries on a tradition since 1873 and is the only marine mail delivery of its type in the country. With passengers, mail and a very brave mailperson, the boat departs every morning for a full lake tour. Learn how the mail person delivers and picks up mail without the boat ever stopping. Trip is held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17. Transportation leaves from and returns to the Kraus Senior Center. Registration is $42 for residents and $47 for nonresidents and includes transportation by school bus and ticket for the 2.5 hour cruise. Lunch and shopping in Lake Geneva are self -pay.
