Teen charged in wreath burning

SANDWICH, Ill. -- Police have charged a 17-year-old girl from Sandwich for allegedly setting fire to a wreath set up at a local park to honor veterans.

Police say witnesses told them the girl set the wreath ablaze and then photographed herself standing in front of it. Authorities say another teen also was seen taking a photograph in front of the blazing wreath, but that teen was not charged.

Sandwich police say the girl is charged with criminal damage to property and was released on $100 bond.

The wreath was put out for Independence Day in the park, which also has a veterans memorial and a flagpole.
