New land gems for Dundee Township
Dundee Township residents have captured a couple of gem properties to add to the quality of life we enjoy here in the north end of the county. The first property is called the Michalski property southeast of Route 72 and Sleepy Hollow Road. This 38-acre parcel has had several potential development plans that all clashed with the ecological wonders this parcel holds. We, The Kane County Forest Preserve, working with the residents and owners, were able to purchase that land to forever remain undeveloped protecting the creek and other natural resources this parcel holds.
As exciting as it was to get the Michalski property, I am thrilled and proud to announce we have signed a contract to purchase the 745-acre Brunner property along the Fox River north of Carpentersville. This type of purchase is almost unheard of in the urban areas of a growing county like Kane. This property added to the Buffalo Park forest preserve property will give Dundee Township over 1,000 contiguous acres along the Fox River. Again, the ecological wonders and pristine riverfront this property holds will be preserved for all generations to come.
The residents of Dundee Township have supported every open space referendum the Forest Preserve has ever held and now it is paying off. Thank you for your the support.
