Leaders must lead on environment
In response to the spread about the Environmental Action Fair at the Chicago Botanic Gardens in this past Sunday's paper, I would like to express my excitement in having participated in the fair and also for the passion all of the participants have.
Daily, citizens wake up and change their habits to live more sustainably.
I am among many who take the extra time to travel by train, bike and foot whenever possible, and while all of this is wonderful, and much promise shines in current efforts, we need leadership.
We are stepping up, sacrificing, promoting. Where are our representatives?
There comes a point when the lack of action taken by legislators is absurd.
Specifically, the 10th District in which the Gardens reside, needs the leadership of Dan Seals and Mark Kirk to make the displayed efforts of these bold citizens truly count.
Let's take things to the next crucial level. Global warming and alternative energy solutions are far overdue and we do not want to see how bad things could get in the future.
