Some 5,000 pounds of fireworks seized

BRIDGEVIEW -- Cook County sheriff's police say they have seized a large cache of illegal fireworks from a Bridgeview trailer in a crackdown on the explosives before Independence Day.

Sheriff's police spokesman Bill Cunningham says 65-year-old Douglas Klein was charged yesterday with possession of illegal fireworks.

Cunningham says Klein has admitted selling fireworks from his home for more than 20 years, telling police he brought them in from out of state,

Cunningham says bomb squad officers removed five thousand pounds of fireworks, worth from $20,000 to $30,000 from a shed next to Klein's mobile home after receiving a tip.
