ComEd surcharge is not justified

This letter is in regards to the ComEd article on June 5 that states ComEd may be asking us to pay a permanent $3 monthly surcharge to help pay for an upgrade of the electricity delivery system, which includes new digital technologies that would allow Com Ed to know when an outage occurs without a call from a customer.

With all the high prices of everything, I don't need yet another company, village, state or government feeling that our pockets are bottomless pits.

I hope everyone who feels outraged over this complains with calls or letters immediately to let ComEd know that as consumers, we would rather make the call on an as-need basis than to have them pickpocket us.

Bottom line: It's cheaper to call and that would be less often than a never-ending, justified $3-every-month-for eternity surcharge they want to incorporate into our bill.

How outrageous is that and how stupid do they think we are if they believe they're doing us a favor?
