Get your craft on at Mongerson

An arts and crafts show this weekend will raise money for the Garfield Farm Museum west of Geneva.

The show, Arts and Crafts at the Farm, is planned for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the nearby Mongerson Farm, 39W958 Route 38. Admission is free, but museum donations are suggested.

Among the items on display and for sale will be paintings, pottery, folk art, woodworking, garden art and numerous other creations crafted by folks from across the suburbs and beyond. There also will be food and refreshments provided by the Inglenook Pantry and live music.

A percentage of all artist profits will benefit the 370-acre farm museum, just off Route 38 along Garfield Road, which also will be open for tours at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. both days. Tours cost $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 12 and younger.

Garfield Farm Museum is the interpretive site of an 1840s prairie farmstead and inn that is being restored through fundraising and volunteer efforts.

The Mongerson Farm, just east of Garfield Road on Route 38, originally was owned by the Garfield family and is used to support operations at Garfield Farm.
