Get ready for more traffic jams in Kane County
The Kane County Division of Transportation has announced a resurfacing and repaving project that will cause delays and lane closures.
The project includes 10 locations throughout the county, and work began Monday.
Crews removed worn pavement on Silver Glen Road from Corron Road to Route 31 near South Elgin. Once crews finish on Silver Glen, they will move to Corron Road.
Kane County Chief of Construction Dave Boesch said they won't know the dates of the other parts of the project until a few days before the crew is to work there.
The work is the second phase of a resurfacing program needed to repair riding surfaces, which were deteriorated by the harsh winter, Boesch said.
The $3.8 million project is expected to be complete by Aug. 30, he said.
Other resurfacing projects included in the project are the following:
• Empire Road east of Route 47 in Lily Lake.
• Highland Avenue between Randall and Damisch roads west of Elgin.
• Various sections of Big Timber Road between Randall Road and Route 72 west of Elgin and south of Gilberts.
• French Road south of Route 72 in Hampshire.
• Main Street between Randall Road and Route 47 west of Batavia.
• Granart Road from Rhodes Road to the Kane/Kendall county line southwest of Sugar Grove.
• Orchard Road on Route 30 in Montgomery.
• Randall Road to 500 feet north and south of Claude Hanson Bridge in Elgin.
