Veterans earned respect of address
After following the few articles found in your paper regarding the Honor Flight program, I was happy to see the article on Saturday's front page, "In their honor."
The pictures were moving, but as I read the caption on the group photo, my heart sank. I was shocked and saddened that Vincent Pierri chose to refer to the WWII veterans as "guys;" these are not fraternity brothers on a summer road trip -- these are men who sacrificed years of their lives for the defense of our country.
To refer to these men as guys is appalling, and more so that the word was allowed to be printed in that caption.
I greatly admire the men and women who have served, are serving, and who will serve in our armed forces; I sincerely thank them for all their efforts. I can only hope our media can honor them properly and give them the respect they deserve in the future.
