Wheeling man charged with molesting teenage girl
A 36-year-old Wheeling man Friday was accused of sexually molesting a 13-year-old girl on two occasions earlier this year, officials said.
Michael G. Leon faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse stemming from an investigation launched last week after the Spring Grove girl's family contacted the McHenry County Sheriff's Department to relay her claims.
The charges allege Leon fondled the girl on May 25 and June 1, sheriff's Lt. Andrew Zinke said.
After interviewing the girl Monday at the McHenry County Child Advocacy Center, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Leon. Members of the sheriff's Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested him without incident Friday in Wheeling.
Leon was being held at the McHenry County jail on $40,000 bond. If found guilty of the Class 2 felony charges, he could be sentenced to three to seven years in prison.
