Summerfest returns to Prospect Hts.

Prospect Heights Summerfest is back this weekend with all its food, music and carnival rides.

The festival runs through Sunday at the Prospect Crossings Shopping Center, near Rand and Thomas roads, across from Hersey High School.

New this year is a Lions Club pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and a cultural dance demonstration on Sunday afternoon, according to festival promoters.

Musical acts will also be a big part of Summerfest.

The first act, Hot Rocks, starts at 7 tonight. The Rolling Stones tribute band will be followed by American English at 9 p.m.

At 5 p.m. Saturday, Chicago Mike takes the stage for two hours; Sanstoan follows. At 9 p.m., The Cryan' Shames finishes off the night.

Sunday's music starts at 6:30 p.m. with The Fairlanes.

Other entertainment includes a Prospect Heights Park District dance recital, Teen Battle of the Bands and a tae kwon do demonstration.

Carnival hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Unlimited ride wristbands are available 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
