Man pleads guilty to sexual assault

A 64-year-old Gilberts man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 3-year-old girl in 2007, officials said Thursday.

Camiel F. Van Durme of 650 Deborah St., will be sentenced to five years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea on one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Van Durme abused a Huntley girl on June 5, 2007, officials said.

Van Durme must register for life as a convicted sex offender.

The case was investigated by the Kane County Child Advocacy Center and the Kane County Sheriff's Department.
