Blagojevich to skip Obama event

Governor Rod Blagojevich has decided against attending a talk about the economy to be hosted Friday by presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

About 15 to 20 Democratic governors are expected at the event in Chicago.

An Obama spokesman says Blagojevich was invited along with all Democratic governors. But a Blagojevich spokeswoman said the governor likely will be heading to the downstate Metro East area to monitor rising flood waters.

Blagojevich and Obama have not made public appearances during the Illinois senator's recent presidential campaigning. The governor lately has been saddled with low approval ratings.
