In defense of Lou Dobbs
I am writing this letter relating to an article written by Ruben Navarrette appearing May 29.
Navarrette accuses Lou Dobbs of CNN saying crude things that give the debate its anti-Latino flavor. His belief is supported by Barack Obama who blasted Lou Dobbs as well on the subject. As a regular listener of Dobbs, I take exception with both Sen. Obama and Navarrette.
Fact number one is Obama and Navarrette fail to accept the fact Dobbs continually refers to illegal immigration. However, Obama and Navarrette keep referring to these uninvited people as immigrants, conveniently dropping off the illegal part. While I feel for the vast majority of these people, they, in fact, are breaking the law when they sneak across our boarders. The key word being law.
In addition, Navarrette misstated facts which he knows the average person does not know whether true or false and then committed the very sin he accuses Dobbs of doing tying him in with Rush Limbaugh and the Ku Klux Klan.
I could go on referring to the huge costs to our country that all legal citizens are absorbing due to illegal immigrants. Navarrette, I suggest you talk to the carpenters union, roofers union and most small-time contractors who follow the rules that have literally been put out of business. I am sure Navarrette and Obama don't care about the working American citizen as much as they care about the special interest groups and votes in Obama's case.
