Off to the farm

Starting next week, you can pick your own organic produce on U-Pick Harvest Days at the Greenbelt Cultural Center near North Chicago. Produce will be available from 10 a.m. to noon every Wednesday through Aug. 13. The fruits and vegetables come from the Green Youth Farm, which is across the street from the center on Green Bay Road south of Route 120.

KeyLime Cove signs OK'd

KeyLime Cove Water Resort in Gurnee has received permission to erect temporary signs facing the Tri-State Tollway before buying something permanent. Gurnee village board trustees Monday night approved KeyLime Cove's two temporary 18-by-36-foot horizontal banners for the complex's south side facing the tollway. Managing director Chuck Paton told trustees the banners will enhance the indoor water park resort's visibility in its first summer of operation. Responding to a question from village Trustee Hank Schwarz, Paton said the banners will be tightly secured so they are not flipped by wind. KeyLime Cove is just northeast of Grand Avenue and the tollway.
