Police kill two, wound three in shootouts
Over six days, shootings between Chicago police and alleged criminals have left two people dead and three others injured.
Chicago police attributed the number of shootings involving its officers to a climate of violence in some communities, but some victims' relatives blamed it on overzealous policing.
The latest shooting occurred late Monday. Police shot and wounded a man police allege was armed. A police spokesman says a weapon was recovered at the scene of the shooting.
Paramedics took the man to Stroger Hospital in serious but stable condition.
Police say late Sunday, 26-year-old Reginald Knight was shot to death after he allegedly confronted officers with a gun.
And on Saturday, 26-year-old Devon Young was shot and killed after officers responded to gunfire.
