FC Dallas hands Fire its first road loss

FRISCO, Texas -- Kenny Cooper scored in the 17th minute to lift FC Dallas to a 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire on Sunday.

FC Dallas (4-5-4) snapped a three-game losing streak and is 10-0-1 in its last 11 games at home against the Fire (6-4-1). The Fire lost its first road game of the season.

Andre Rocha set up the goal with a midfield pass that went through two Fire defenders to Cooper. Cooper raced past the Fire's Bakary Soumare before firing a shot into the right corner of the net from 22 yards away for his seventh goal of the year. Cooper has scored a goal in all four of his career games against the Fire.

The Fire's Justin Mapp came close to tying the game in the 70th minute with a left-footed shot from 25 yards away, but his attempt drifted wide of the right post.

FC Dallas goalkeeper Dario Sala finished with 3 saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

Goalie Jon Busch kept the Fire in the game as it struggled to find early scoring opportunities. The Fire did not register its first shot until Chad Barrett's attempt in the 37th minute. FC Dallas outshot the Fire 20-11.
