Kirk crosses aisle on transportation

Congressman Kirk is going beyond the call of duty working on Illinois transportation issues.

Not only has he obtained significant federal highway funding for Illinois, but he is also working tirelessly to ensure that the funds are actually used.

He is sounding the alarm that Illinois is about to lose over $4 billion in federal matching funds due to inaction on the part of the state.

Kirk worked in a bipartisan manner to make sure Illinois was well served by the federal transportation bill.

Unfortunately, our leaders in Springfield aren't able to work together as effectively, and we stand to lose that $4 billion because they won't provide a local match.

Our governor should take some pointers from him on how to reach across the aisle make a positive impact on our state.

I'm proud to be represented by Kirk because he is an independent who puts the interests of his district and state over ego and politics.
