Democrats have created a mess

What a mess the politicians put this country in. Since the Democrats took over both houses of Congress, oil prices have skyrocketed. They fiddle while Rome burns.

Trucking companies are folding up, the airlines are cutting back and laying off, and small businesses are folding.

On May 22, I watched part of the dog and pony show the Senate put on.

Dick Durbin and Chuck Schumer accused the oil men of hurting this county for profit while it is the do-nothing Congress that is creating the mess. They should be prosecuted for running a con game on the taxpayers.

The tree huggers and the academic cowards rule Congress, not the working people who pay taxes in this country.

The tree huggers made no bone about wanting the price of gas to cost $4 per gallon, and Durbin and his cronies are helping them. I called Melissa Bean and Durbin's offices and told them to get their votes from the tree huggers.

It is Congress that passes the laws in this country, not the president or anyone else, but they would lead you to believe it's the president and the oil companies.

This country was built on free enterprise and capitalism, not socialism. Congress keeps getting in the way of business with screwball laws.

This is what causes layoffs. The politicians do not create jobs, business does, but they think that we do not know how to handle our money.

We should be converting coal to oil, drilling off shore and in Alaska while looking for alternative fuels. Congress makes it impossible to build new refineries or enlarge the ones we have.

Meanwhile billions of dollars flow out of this country into OPEC countries, and our currency keeps losing its value.

I wouldn't bother calling Obama because I feel if he is elected, we are headed for socialism.

The GOP is as bad as the Democrats, but I think they are the lesser of two evils.

I'm going on 81 years old, and I'd hate to see this country go down the tubes. I fear for my country.
