We deserve health care we can afford
Robert Schultz resorts to the usual conservative arguments and name calling (liberal elitist thinking) in his letter criticizing supporters of universal health care coverage for Americans.
He claims Mr. McCain has a vision and cares.
Well, about what? We have almost eight years of failed economic policies, more people losing their jobs and consequently health care -- and the usual Republican answer, free market policies will take care of it.
However, this is definitely not occurring as more hospitals in low-income areas close and the "not for profit" hospitals are refusing to treat the uninsured while enriching their administrators with millions.
Health care is the single most important concern of Americans today and the usual Republican panacea, health saving accounts, are not an answer when people are out of work and can't put money in the accounts.
A recent poll from NPR, the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Harvard School of Public Health finds the majority of Americans reject conservative approach to public health care.
They know it is not working and we need new solutions. Maybe Mr. Obama's health plan looks like scribbling on a napkin to Mr. Schulz, but it may promise more hope to millions of uninsured Americans.
