Disappointed with MDA camp decision

The Muscular Dystrophy Association has made a poor decision. (Daily Herald, June 2.)

I believe them when they claim they were unable to find an insurance carrier to cover the campers aged 18 to 21. What I can't understand is their response, "there's a lot of concern about mixing what are technically adults with children as young as 6 years old in an overnight camping situation."

I volunteered at MDA camp when I was in college, technically an adult at age 18. My camper was technically an adult as well. If MDA is concerned about her, what about me and the other "adult" volunteers?

Shame on MDA for closing the door on adult campers.

I have always been a supporter of MDA. In addition to volunteering at camp I have answered phones for the telethon and as a businesswoman have been to jail several times for MDA Lock Up events.

I will continue to support MDA but do not support this decision to close camp for "adult" campers.
