Time to find the 'real John McCain'

In his recent speech to AIPAC, Sen. John McCain dismissed Sen. Barack Obama's position that tough and direct negotiations with Iran should be fully explored.

Rather, Sen. McCain proposed what he posited as a new and innovative approach; that private companies should divest from doing business with Iran. This is a disingenuous claim as Sen. Obama and Republican Sen. Sam Brownback proposed Iran divestment legislation in 2007, which Sen. McCain strongly opposed.

Another entertaining piece of information is that Sen. McCain's campaign manager, lobbyist Rick Davis, is a name partner in the lobbying firm Davis Manafort which has lobbied the government of Iran for business on behalf of two corporate clients, the steel company Metinvest and Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant, a manufacturer of large diameter pipe.

Dear readers, pay attention as to whether the national press covers this and other stories exposing the real John McCain, or whether it continues to act as what Sen. McCain has called for over a decade "my base."
