Seals: 'You are no Barack Obama'

Several weeks ago, Barack Obama took Hillary Clinton and John McCain to task about their proposals to stop the federal gas tax for the summer. Without a single economist backing the plan, Obama was right to call it as he saw it ? Political pandering.

Dan Seals, who would like to think he is the next Barack Obama, needs to take some cues from his idol. Seals recently offered a promotion where he gave out cheap gas to motorists. He didn't talk about his plan for a new energy policy.

He didn't talk about getting off foreign oil. He just filled gas tanks and handed out bumper stickers in an obvious attempt at vote buying.

If that isn't pandering, I don't know what is. Dan Seals likes to echo Obama's call for "change." We deserve better than a politician who is more concerned about getting on television than he is about making our lives better.

To paraphrase the old adage ? I know Barack Obama, and Dan Seals, you are no Barack Obama. Tenth District voters don't want gimmicks; they want statesmen. That's why they've elected Mark Kirk to Congress four times. And why they said no to Dan Seals in 2006.
