Daley brushes off critics
Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says he's not offended some Northwestern University students don't think he's high-profile enough to be their commencement speaker.
Daley says being the mayor of Chicago is hardly a "parochial" job.
Daley told reporters Tuesday he's not nervous about delivering the June 20 commencement address even though some students have expressed disappointment about him being the speaker.
The mayor joked he's used to people not wanting to hear what he has to say because he's a politician.
Northwestern has defended its selection of Daley, citing his national reputation as a leader.
Daley isn't the only commencement speaker some Northwestern students were unhappy with. Some law school students also complained when talk show host Jerry Springer was picked as their speaker.
