Body found in Kankakee River ID'd

Will County authorities have identified the body of the man pulled Monday from the Kankakee River on to be that of a man reported missing.

According the Will County coroner's office, 46-year-old John Newbern was pronounced dead at the Lower Chippewa campgrounds, about three miles southeast of Wilmington, in unincorporated Custer Township.

Newbern was identified through fingerprints.

Kankakee police are investigating the circumstances of Newbern's death.
