The sad closing of Michael Reese

It is sad Michael Reese Hospital will soon be closing its doors leaving a section of the Near South Side of Chicago without medical facilities.

This icon, founded in 1881 to care for the poor and under-served, is reportedly victim of a failing economy and the inability of it patients to pay for the medical services received.

This prime property will be offered for sale and as happenstance will have it is located where the upscale Olympic Village will be developed.

But then happenstance doesn't really occur in the City of Chicago, does it?
