Government health care would be bad
In Froma Harrop's column published Sunday, she refers to Democrats as the "peoples party" which, to me, is a demonstration of liberal elitist thinking that anyone who doesn't share its left-leaning views is less than human.
It may also be a tell that she wants her party might to evolve our country into The People's Republic of America?
Froma makes some other questionable statements.
She stated "foreigners'… governments have controlled national health-care costs and achieved better average medical outcomes through their national systems of universal coverage."
I have Canadian friends who cross the border to go to Buffalo for their medical needs because they don't get better than average medical outcomes.
Froma also wrote "An expanded Medicare would free businesses from the burden of providing medical care to employees and their kin."
The burden is not providing medical care; the burden is paying for medical care.
Does anyone really think the government can provide anything better for a lower cost? I don't think so.
It might also surprise Froma that some businesses don't think providing medical care is a burden. It helps them attract better employees and helps keep those employees in better health and more productive.
Froma's column did get two things right: "Obama's health-care plan looks like a back-of-the napkin scribbling by someone who didn't care that much but needed something" and "the McCain vision stands on a studier reality."
We need a president who cares and who has sturdy vision, and thanks to Froma we know that is John McCain.
