Robber hits a bank in Lindenhurst

Police are searching for a man they say robbed two Lindenhurst bank tellers Monday morning, then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbery happened around 7 a.m. at the First Midwest Bank, 2975 Sand Lake Road.

There were no customers at the bank at the time.

Police say two female tellers were tied up by the offender, but otherwise unharmed. Officials are not saying if the suspect was armed.

The offender fled on foot.

Police from Lindenhurst, Lake Villa and the Lake County sheriff's office conducted the initial area search and investigation. The FBI is also investigating.

Lindenhurst police Cmdr. Kevin Klahs said the suspect was described as middle-aged, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin to medium build.

Klahs said the man was wearing a black mask.
