Naperville police hunting man who fired shots in air
Naperville police are searching for a man they say fired gunshots into the air Sunday night after being denied entry to a private party outside a restaurant along Route 59.
No one was injured in the incident, Cmdr. David Hoffman said.
Police said they arrived within seconds of receiving a report at 10:19 p.m. of a man firing shots in the parking lot of Esteban's restaurant, 1550 N. Route 59.
Hoffman said police had been called to the restaurant earlier in the evening when the same man was wielding a baseball bat after finding he was not on the guest list for the private birthday party.
The man fled in a dark-colored, late model, four-door vehicle, according to police reports.
"The matter remains under investigation and we are talking to witnesses to help us find this person," Hoffman said.
If he is found, Hoffman said, the man will be charged with reckless discharge of a firearm.
