Elgin man found dead in home after fire

Authorities have identified a man found dead in his Elgin home Saturday after an early-morning fire at the house, according to the Kane County coroner.

The man, Ramon Negron, lived alone on the 1000 block of Logan Avenue, authorities said.

The fire occurred sometime before 8:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The cause of the blaze had not been determined Saturday, police said.

Elgin firefighters, who are investigating the blaze, could not be reached for comment late Monday afternoon.

Elgin police spokeswoman Ann Dinges said police usually do not aid an investigation unless firefighters suspect foul play.

The coroner did an autopsy of Negron but could not determine what killed him, according to a news release.

The coroner has sent toxicology samples to a lab to help determine the cause of Negron's death.

Analysis of toxicology samples typically takes two weeks.
