Man stabbed on Chicago's South Side

Chicago police say they are seeking a man, possibly from Gary, Ind., in the fatal stabbing of a South Side man who was attempting to cool gang tensions by paying his respects to the father of a recent murder victim.

Officers say 31-year-old Daniel Santoyo was stabbed Saturday night when someone saw him on the wrong side of Marshfield Avenue, where one side has ties to the Gangster Disciples while the Latin Souls control the other side.

Police say Santoyo crossed the street to offer his condolences to the father of a young man who was shot and killed last month. The murder victim had ties to the Gangster Disciples, while Santoyo was affiliated with the Latin Souls.
