Reaction to Pfleger reeks of hypocrisy

Why isn't the Archdiocesan response to the sexual abuse of a child as swift and definitive as the response to Father Pfleger or the theft of funds (our donations) in parishes?

While Father Pfleger has achieved some incredible pastoral initiatives, it will be a long time before the people of Chicago forgive the moment when he "snapped."

The media has been bombarded with judgmental statements about the "rant" as if we were each perfect.

I recall rooting for the opposing team at one hockey game when I got very excited.

One historic moment by Pfleger obliterates the good and we are to be a forgiving people. How interesting.

Theft of our hard-earned donations across the Archdiocese of Chicago is mind boggling and yet it is dealt with quickly, expeditiously and quietly with new security measures immediately imposed. How interesting.

Are our children not as important as a "rant" or grand-scale theft?

How is it we preach the dignity of life message and we don't walk the talk?

Hypocrisy abound in headlines that read that an ex-coach gets a life sentence for molesting children and our pastoral leaders move them from parish to parish with no concern for at risk families and vulnerable children who are unaware of the predator's history.

Double standard? Yes. Hypocrisy? Absolutely.
