More early release days not the answer

After reading the article of the Lake Villa school district releasing the student one hour early every Friday for the 2008-2009 school year, I have a few questions.

What are teacher institute day's for? Why can't they come in an hour early on Fridays, or stay an hour later? Why take away and hour every Friday from the students? What are working parents to do for that hour?

As a former school employee and a former board member it upsets me that they are doing this. My grandson attends Lake Villa schools. So, as I see this, students are losing one hour of education every Friday. Do the math. Depriving students of an education is not the way.
