Tornado touches ground near Mundelein

A tornado touched down near Mundelein shortly after 8 p.m. tonight.

The tornado moved northeasterly at around 33 mph.

There are no reports yet of injuries or damages.

Earlier this evening a tornado moved across Chicago's south suburbs.

The tornado was on the ground between Richton Park and University Park about 6:30 p.m. and was moving northeast.

Will County sheriff's department spokesman Pat Barry says the "slow-moving" tornado caused damage to several homes in the Wilmington area and has downed trees and power lines.
