Sauceda, Vaughn join Elgin Hall of Fame ballot
The Elgin Sports Hall of Fame has added two people to this year's ballot as well as announced its $1,000 scholarship winners from area high schools.
Eric Sauceda has been added to the ballot as a nominee for induction, as has Ralph "Gus" Vaughn. They join Gary Bohlin, Sean Harrington and Blaine Royer on the 2008 ballot.
Sauceda was nominated for his basketball days at St. Edward High School and Vaughn as an all-around athlete, with an emphasis on his softball career.
The local student-athletes who received $1,000 scholarships from the Hall of Fame Foundation are:
Elgin Academy -- Jacqueline Diaz;
Elgin High -- Thomas Bowers, Giselle Bruskewitz, Eriz DeNeui, Elizabeth Niles, Chasen Riddle and Kiersten Swartz;
Larkin High -- Nick Bee, Ellis Hatchett, Cam Kinley, Jen Koch, Mike Sainz and Natta Senesombath;
St. Edward -- Matt Aridente, Kelly Knott, Ashley Lucas, Will Lytle, Mackenzie Malone;
Westminster Christian -- Tyler Beachler, Ben Palmer.
