Winds, weather stall Chicago flights

Blustery winds and storms are disrupting flights at Chicago's two airports.

City officials cautioned travelers to check with their airlines before heading to Midway or O'Hare this afternoon.

At O'Hare International Airport, delays are averaging 90 minutes with about 200 flights canceled.

At Midway International Airport, there are no major cancellations but planes are leaving between 30 and 60 minutes behind schedule.

Chicago Department of Aviation officials reported flights between the East Coast and Chicago are backed up about two hours.

The National Weather Service has forecast scattered showers and thunderstorms for the area and issued a tornado watch until 6 p.m.

Temperatures this afternoon are expected to be in the mid 80s with southwest winds of 25 mph and a 50 percent chance of rain.
