Marching toward socialism
In Scott Burns' column in Business on May 6, in which he points out truths about the IRS and income taxes, his closing remark, "Millions of Americans don't know what fat cats they are," mystifies me. The assumption is the "fat cats" are those paying 85 percent of the total taxes into the U.S. Treasury. Allow me to suggest wage earners making $60,000 annually who pay minimal taxes, or none at all, absolutely are the fat cats. Worse, they are in the vast majority.
Although he is aware, Burns fails to headline this relentless march into socialism, the last step before totalitarian dictatorship. If ever there was a time to eliminate the IRS, now is that time. If Sen. John McCain would install this as a firm plank in his campaign for the presidency, he would be a shoo-in.
