Kings assistant Person to get second look from Bulls
The Bulls plan to conduct more interviews before settling on a new head coach.
Sacramento assistant Chuck Person is believed to be one of the candidates returning to Chicago for a second meeting with general manager John Paxson.
In his first season on the Kings' bench, Person quickly established himself as Reggie Theus' right-hand man. The former shooting guard, whose nickname was "The Rifleman," handled defensive responsibilities for the Kings and clicked well with the unpredictable Ron Artest.
Person spent the previous two seasons as an assistant to Rick Carlisle in Indiana and also spent years as a special assistant in the Pacers' front office. Person played 13 NBA seasons, mostly with Indiana, and was a teammate of Charles Barkley at Auburn.
Doug Collins remains the likely front-runner for the Bulls' opening. But Paxson plans to continue his vow of having no timetable for the coaching search and wants to complete his due diligence on some of the intriguing candidates he has met.
Utah assistant Tyrone Corbin and former Minnesota coach Dwane Casey are other possibilities for second interviews.
