District 62 board honors students

The District 62 Board of Education recently honored 26 middle school students in the "Middle School Students You Should Know" recognition program. Each year District 62 middle school teachers and principals select middle school students who deserve to be honored. Our honorees demonstrate outstanding scholarship, inspire others by overcoming difficulties and challenges, volunteer in their community, help their classmates and are involved in every aspect of the middle school experience.

Academic Excellence: Megan Bricks, sixth grade, Algonquin Middle School; Megan John, eighth grade, Chippewa Middle School; Abigail Mann, eighth grade, Algonquin Middle School; Akash Patel, seventh grade, Iroquois Community School.

District 62 alumnae Maggie Mueller, Ellen Krzcik and Hannah Schmitz assisted Board of Education members with the presentations. This winter, Mueller was honored by the Board for being honorably mentioned to the Daily Herald Northwest Suburban Leadership Team. Krzcik and Schmitz were recently named Golden Apple Scholarship winners. They will graduate from Maine West in June.
